Compassion — More Than Just a Story
This section highlights my volunteering experiences and the meaningful stories I’ve encountered along the way. To me, volunteering is about more than just hours on paper — it’s about human connection, growth, and impact.

01
Bonding with seniors
At the start of the event, myself, along with the rest of HMIS student leaders greeted the seniors as they alighted from their buses. Our role was to befriend and guide them in the carnival activities around.
03
Carnival Fun
There were activity booths ranging from health and wellness to traditional games to indulge in the senior's nostalgia. I lead the seniors around, along with the CapitaLand staff as we introduced and encourage them to participate.
02
Shared stories over food
As this event was in collaboration with CaptiaLand Malls, we were given the chance to dine in with seniors at Seoul Garden buffet and HaiDiLao hotpot. This was rather meaningful as I got to know the seniors better, and learned pateince in communicating with them.
04
Shopping Experience
At the end of the day, the seniors were given the chance to spend their vouchers at FairPrice and Guardian, where I assisted in finding items they needed and carrying heavy bags. Overall, this experience was a meaningful and heartwarming one as I could feel the seniors happiness.
HMIS 2025 Oscar Awards

1 / Ushering
For the Hmis Oscar, I signed as an usher to help with the event, making sure to plan the seating arrangements and the routes to lead the award winner, their families, and the VIP guests to the Music Box.
2 / Event decoration assistance
Although my role was to only be an usherer, the creative team for the Oscar needed assistance with blowing up balloons and the placement of directional standees, and naturally I was more than glad to help.
3 / Finale
The event was run rather smoothly, and finally we helped with tearing down and the clean up of the venue! From this ushering experience, I've learned to pay more attention to details and my surroundings.
A Tapestry of Connection

Attending a paint pouring workshop conducted by artists with disabilities was truly eye-opening. Through the session, I learned how paint pouring allows them to express emotions and creativity in unique ways. The experience reminded me that inclusivity matters and that people with disabilities are an integral part of our community.
Through this experience, we collaborated to create three large art pieces. One final design, selected from our student creations, was chosen to be printed on tea towels that will be given as VIP gifts in the future.
走出校园,走进文化 Culture Heritage Walk

This Chinese cultural heritage walk aimed to promote awareness and appreciation of Chinese culture among secondary school students. In Singapore’s multicultural and diverse society, many students may feel less connected to their cultural roots. Through this heritage walk, we guided students to various historical and cultural landmarks in the Chinatown area, including temples and the Tan Kah Kee Museum, encouraging them to actively engage with and learn about their heritage.
Leading the students during the heritage walk taught me how to be more patient, organised, and confident when guiding a group. I learned to adjust how I explained things so everyone could understand and stay engaged, which helped me grow as a leader.
