Co-Curricular Activities

Choir (CCA)

I have been a dedicated member of my school choir for 10 years, starting from Primary 3. Through countless rehearsals, concerts, and competitions, I developed strong teamwork, discipline, and confidence performing on stage. This experience taught me the value of collaboration, perseverance, and harmonizing with others—skills I carry into all areas of my work. As an CCA Exco of my Secondary School Choir, we organize annual volunteer work at St Andrew's Community Hospital for the elderly, with sing-along sessions. Moreover, I tracked attendance, volunteer schedules, and feedback using spreadsheets, and analyzed the data to better understand residents' needs and preferences. This allowed us to adjust activities and resources more effectively, ensuring a smoother and more impactful experience for both the elderly and volunteers.

Singapore Youth Festival (SYF)

Over the years in choir, I've participated in at least 4 SYF, with two distinctions and 2 accomplishment certificates. SYF period was a very tiring period, as I had extra sessions planned, nonetheless, the efforts of hard work and dedication paid off.

Singapore Internation Choral Festival

In 2023, I participated in SICF alongside my fellow choirmates. We successfully obtained a Silver category  award. This experience was rather fruitful as a cultural exchange took place with Choirs from all around the world, mainly Southeast Asian countries.

Chinese Singing Competition“新空下”新谣歌唱及创作比赛

In 2023, I participated in 星空下, a song-writing/composing workshop for 3 days at Singapore Polytechnic. The main purpose was to promote Chinese Language among teenagers in Singapore, and to teach them relevant skills. I paired up with a fellow Choirmate, Lee Pei Zhen, to sign up for the competition, in which we did not win. Despite the loss, I enjoyed this rare learning opportunity as it made me reflect on the Chinese language and to continue pursuing my love for singing.

Chinese Drama (CCA)
Otherwise known as NPSAG, Chinese drama is another Performing Arts CCA that I've taken up.

  • Logistics & Production Team

As a member of the Chinese Drama CCA, I worked primarily in the logistics and backstage production team, supporting both stage performances and short film projects. My role focused on ensuring that productions ran smoothly behind the scenes, from preparation to the final show.

I was involved in stage management, prop coordination, set preparation, and backstage crew work during live drama performances. This required strong teamwork, time management, and the ability to stay calm under pressure, especially during live shows where quick problem-solving was essential.

In addition, I contributed to film production tasks, assisting with behind-the-scenes coordination such as equipment setup, scene preparation, and supporting the filming process. Through these experiences, I developed a deeper understanding of how performances are brought to life offstage and learned the importance of communication and responsibility in a production team.

This experience strengthened my ability to work collaboratively, manage tasks efficiently, and adapt quickly in fast-paced environments.

《续墨》Descendant

My very first involvement in the CCA was for 《续墨》Descendant, our very own stage production. This production was an experience to live through, from tireless practices behind the scenes to bringing the production live on stage, I've learned countless skills. Being a part of the production team has helped me furthermore appreciate and respect the backstage crews we do not see usually, as their work often go unnoticed.

HMIS Society (CCA)
Otherwise known as HMISS, this is an internal club CCA within NP's school of humanities.

  • Logistics Department

I am an active member of the HMIS Society, a club-based CCA representing students from the School of Humanities at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Within the society, I serve in the Logistics Department, where I support the planning and execution of club events.

As part of the logistics team, I am responsible for coordinating event venues, preparing decorations, and sourcing and setting up props needed for various activities. My role requires strong organisation, teamwork, and attention to detail, as we ensure every event setup runs smoothly and creates an engaging environment for participants.

HMIS Day

One of the first major events I supported was HMIS Day, a student engagement event where we organised games, distributed snacks, and prepared goody bags for participants. As part of the Logistics Department, I was involved in sorting, organising, and packing event materials ahead of time to ensure everything was ready on the actual day. This experience taught me the importance of preparation, teamwork, and time management, as even small logistical details played a big role in the overall success of the event.
